Multiplying Small Things

Mark 8:7  And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

At Zion's Roar Ministries, we keep a small Tzedekah Box near the door dedicated solely to our charity giving. The box is only for coins, and each time we meet, folks are free, without pressure, compulsion, or obligation to drop any spare change they may have into the box. Everyone can see the open box of change when they enter or leave ZRM, so there's no need to announce it and there's never a push to contribute. Because it's only for spare change, kids can get involved too, and enjoy doing so, sometimes simply finding coins outside on the ground during the school week (remember how great that was when you were a kid?) and bringing them when we meet. Sometimes people bring stored up pennies, other times, maybe coins found in their car seats, sofa cushions, and washing machines! The point is, these are small contributions that no one misses when giving and causes no one, adult or child, any financial distress. But our G-d can do great things with small things! When the box is full, we tally the total, cash it in, and cut a check for that amount (rounded up) to a charity selected by our members. Then, we start all over again! This time our box came to $459.25 in spare change! But we were evenly split in our vote between two charities to give it to! Should we split the amount between them? NO! When it comes to giving, our G-d prefers to multiply vs divide! Hearing of our dilemma, we had an anonymous donor contact us pledging to match what was in the box so we could donate to both! But that's not all! When I made the donation to the selected charities on "Giving Tuesday," I learned that it was being used as a match for other donors! So not only did G-d double our giving once, He doubled it twice! Our $500 gift became $1,000! Hallelujah! A lot of times people feel that if they cannot give BIG to those in need, then it's not worth doing. Nothing could be further from the truth! Especially when G-d is involved! I would encourage everyone to consider what multiplication Yeshua can do with whatever small loaves and fishes YOU may have! Through the consistent spare coins of our ZRM members, we were able to contribute $500 to both The Demand Project (restoring trafficked/exploited children) AND $500 to the Gateway Woman's Center (anti-abortion alternatives, counseling pro-life births with medical/financial assistance through pregnancy, birth, raising or adoption of their child). AND yes, G-d doubled that yet again! Photos below (and yes, "No-shave November" has me looking a little rough too, LOL!)
